Chakras are a very complex energy system within our bodies. They are the centers of our spiritual power. Once you become aware of this special system, you are able to harness and balance these energies. It isn’t uncommon for the chakras to become blocked and it happens for various reasons.
The main thing that blocks our chakras is stress. Stress is a very low vibrational energy that tends to clog our energy flow much like cholesterol clogs the arteries. When the chakras are blocked it leads to very real issues such as difficulties concentrating, sleeping issues, complete lack of motivation, feelings of helplessness and many more things.
Thankfully there are easy ways to unblock our chakras that all of us can do right from home. It is my goal with today’s article to provide you with some easy techniques to unclog our chakras.
The first technique that works tremendously well and is fairly easy to achieve are mantras. A mantra is a short repetition that is often used at the end of a yoga practice. The mantra acts as a form of sound healing that can restore your energy fields. When done correctly, mantras give off a distinct frequency and vibration that ancient monks used to reach enlightenment. These high vibrations blast through energy blockages allowing your energy flow to restore back to normal.
The second technique to unblocking your chakras is called tapping. The practice of tapping, or EFT, works by using your fingertips to tap on certain meridian points throughout your body. This motion of tapping and repeating affirmations can help you to let go of certain emotions that are blocking your chakras. For me personally this works exceptionally well in stressful situations. You may not know this, yet there is a strong energy flow in the fingers and it’s been utilized as far back as time itself through various practices. By using the tapping method you are harnessing your own chi energy. With practice this can be a very beneficial tool for energy work.
The third technique today is called chakra meditation. This can be a powerful technique for you to do right from home. It involves bringing attention to yourself and focusing on your own awareness. By doing this, you can tune into exactly what is bothering you, work through it, and by doing so you are releasing that block in your chakras. Chakras are very real - the are like energy portals within our energy field and by harnessing them completely you can overcome anything life throws at you.
The fourth technique to unblocking your chakras is yoga. When a chakra is blocked, movement can be beneficial to releasing it. Yoga is an excellent way to do this as it encourages the flow of energy back into your body. Yoga not only is a great physical workout, yet it also is a very spiritual practice and it’s benefits range from energy healing, physical healing, mental healing and spirit awareness. I highly recommend yoga and you don’t have to go to a group setting to do it. These days you can do a quick search on YouTube for beginners yoga class and do it on your living room or bedroom floor.
The fifth technique is the use of essential oils. Using certain essential oils is a great way to rebalance your chakras. Burning these oils or diffusing them in your home is a way you can effectively break down those blockages. I have a diffuser in each room and use various oils depending on what mood I’m trying to create. Lavender for stressful situations, citrus for a natural energy boost and so on. The use of essential oils is very underrated and overlooked. They have been used way back throughout time, even in the ancient Egyptian era. They’ve been used for medicinal purposes along with mental ailments. You will find great success in unclogging your chakras by utilizing them.
The sixth technique today is your nutrition. Including certain foods into your diet can help you to clear out your energy system. Each chakra correlates with certain foods, so introducing these into your daily meals can really go a long way to rebalancing your system. Here is certain foods to go with certain chakras:
The first chakra also called the root chakra is located at the base of the spine. Usually represented in colour red, it helps to keep the energy of the body connected with earthly energies. It aids movement, survival and self-esteem.
Feed it with: Root vegetables like carrots, potatoes, parsnips, radishes, beets, onions, garlic, and protein rich food like eggs, meats, beans, tofu, soy products, peanut butter. The spices that suit it are chives, paprika and pepper.
Referring to the sacral chakra located at the navel, it is always represented in hues of orange. It is associated with all things emotional and creativity. A healthy sacral chakra always aids control and balance in one’s life.
Feed it with: Fan this fiery spot with sweet fruits like melons, mangos, strawberries, passion fruit, oranges, coconut. Even honey and nuts are recommended for it. As for spices, cinnamon, vanilla, sesame seeds help to nourish the chakra.
Also called the solar plexus chakra, the Manipura is represented in colour yellow, and is said to govern ego and self-esteem. The chakra seeks to achieve balance in self-esteem issues and intuitive skills.
Feed it with: grains like cereal, rices, flax seed, sunflower seeds and daily milk products like milk, cheeses, yogurt. Ginger, mints, chamomile, turmeric, cumin, fennel also spice up the chakra.
Rightfully called the heart chakra, it’s represented in the colour pink and green. Emotional abuse and heartbreak can be wounding to the seat of love. Ensure that this chakra is always in the right emotional frame.
Feed it with: Aid the healing process by feeding the chakra leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, dandelion greens, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, celery. Green teas also keep the heart chakra in healthy condition, and spice it up with basil, thyme, cilantro.
The chakra is located at the throat, and is symbolized in colour sky blue. It represents our will power and responsibility. Not being able to express oneself can manifest into cold and sore throat. Learn to always speak the truth.
Feed it with: To keep the throat in mint condition, quench it with liquids like water, fruit juices, and herbal teas.
Popularly known as the third eye, Ajna is located in the center of the head or brow, and is usually represented in colour indigo. It’s the seat of wisdom and insight. It helps to keep things in perspective.
Feed it with: Dark bluish fruits like blueberries, blackberries, raspberries help to keep the chakra centred. Wine and grape juice, along with spices like poppy seeds are considered perfect for the chakra.
Called the crown chakra, it is located on the topmost portion of the head. The colour used to identify it is either white or purple. It is the highest form of chakra, which opens up the spiritual communication completely with the universe. It’s often drawn as a lotus blooming open.
Feed it with: Incense and smudging herbs like sage, copal, myrrh, frankincense, and juniper. Fasting and detoxifying are said to be beneficial for the development of the chakra as it awakens to the highest form spiritual communication.
The seventh technique that I like to use to unblock my chakras is simply to go out into nature. This is one of the easiest ways to unblock your chakras. By spending time outdoors, walking barefoot in the grass, you’re reconnecting with nature and absorbing it’s healing energies - you are keeping grounded and at peace. I try to do this as much as possible. I love being outdoors, with my six dogs, breathing the fresh air and really enjoying the experience. This is a truly effective way to get rid of those blockages.
The last way to release closed chakras is to take deep breaths. Taking deep breaths with intention is very effective for restoring your chakras to their natural and harmonious state. As you inhale, direct your energy to the chakra. As you exhale, allow awareness and relax into it. By focusing on your breathing, you are becoming one with your energy, so see that energy go into the blocked chakra, and blast away anything that isn’t supposed to be there. Sounds simple, and it is. It is also one of the most powerful ways to restoring your energy flow.
As you can see, there are many ways you can unblock your chakras in the comfort of your own home. If you continue to experience these blockages, try an energy cleanse. An energy cleanse focuses on not only these blockages, but also any low vibrations that aren’t supposed to be in your energy field. It removes them and restores your sense of peace. Either way, energy is very real so the more you tune into it, the more power you’ll have over your own life.
