Lucid dreaming is in my eyes one of the most over looked spiritual abilities out there. Everybody has dreams, whether they can remember them or not. Some dream in black and white. Others dream in 2D while others in 3D. Most people have no control over it whatsoever. This is where lucid dreaming comes in.
Lucid dreaming is when a person can control what happens in their dreams. Where they walk - what they say - what they can do, and a rarer part of lucid dreaming is when you can actually use your senses in your dreams as well. For example, feel the wind on your face in your dream, or feel that burn when you touch fire. Some also can smell their surroundings such as food or trash in their dreams. It is a very special gift.
I haven't always had this ability - and have only come to learn it was an actual gift in the recent years. I thought that everybody could control their dreams, and it wasn't until talking to my husband awhile back that I noticed this was something special. He couldn't do it at all - he can't control his dreams. This led me to doing some research on these types of things and it led me to an article on lucid dreaming.
According to Wikipedia, A lucid dream is a dream during which one is aware that they are dreaming. During a lucid dream, one may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment.
I want to give an example of one of the most frequent recurring lucid dreams I have been having for several years now.
In this dream, the world is in chaos. Natural disasters like you have never seen. People are locked up in prisons, massive camps - without the ability to escape. My husband and dogs are always with me. My husband has been captured by these military looking groups, and it is always my responsibility to get him out. Night after night, failure after failure, I would try again.
The special thing about me, is I can control my dreams, and I am very aware that I am in one. I am aware of the previous fails to get my husband out of this camp - so I know that I must try something else. I often times get shot at by these military entities imprisoning people. When the bullet meets my skin, I literally feel it.
I have died several times in my dreams, and I know that death is actually very peaceful, and people are in fact aware that they are dying, and when they are dead. Anyhow, these dreams got to the point that I knew from the moment they started what it was I had to do, where I had to go, who I had to talk to, where I had to hide, and eventually, how to get my husband out of this camp.
The fact is, lucid dreaming is a rare spiritual gift. Not many have it, but when you do, it can be the most amazing sense of freedom in the world. Are you a lucid dreamer? Let me know in the comment section below!
